West Hull U16's 2015: Where are they now?
In 2015, one of the West Hull junior teams made history for the first time. West Hull under 16's of 2015 won the domestic treble and became the first under 16's side of West Hull to do that and was rewarded by Academy clubs and the senior squads of West Hull to give them a chance to progress their careers following the success.
The team had won a Yorkshire Cup which 7 months prior to that win, they had lost the final so second attempt was sweet. Following the Yorkshire Cup was the National Cup which was anymore than sweeter than the first trophy. Finally, with only one loss throughout the year, the under 16's completed the treble with the National League which brought the curtain down on glorious team and there was no better way to do it!
Where are the treble winning team of 2015 now?
Fullback Harry Hutchinson who was very influential in both attack and defence is now playing rugby for City Of Hull Academy U19's (COHA).
One of the forwards that proved to be a key success in the forward packs is Ben Butler is also involved with the COHA team.
One of the halfbacks that was the spine of completion rates in fixtures of 2015 was Lochlan Fitzgerald and he is now also a member of the U19's COHA.
James Goulsbra-Miller remains at the club however playing with the senior squads of West Hull and also represented playing for England Community Lions since the age of 16.
Another member of the 2015 squad that won the treble who remains at West Hull is forward, Raymond Brown who also had excelled in the pack.
Effective and dynamic hooker Elliott Windley now plays at the Warrington Wolves U19's team.
Halfback, Bobby Downs who was key in controlling the halves now plays at Beverley ARLFC first team.
Forward, Ian Shimells swapped the code of rugby league for rugby union and plays for the union team, Hull Ionians.
Another forward in the team and delivered to the successful campaign is Johnta Nkonjera also swapped codes and plays his rugby union for Hornsea RUFC.
Owen Harrison was one of the forwards involved in the team has taken his career to a more advanced route by recently signing a first professional deal for Hull KR and is making his way up very quickly.
Zach Morgan who played winger during his West Hull days is the only one to represent this team at student level playing for Newcastle University.
Front rower and very effective try scorer Billy Wardell and back-rower Max Riseham we're involved in the COHA team, treble winning captain Chris Brown was recently part of the setup in Castleford Tigers U19’s, meanwhile halfback Kieran Wilson was recently involved in West Hull U18's but have since ended playing and no longer are in a team.
Meanwhile, Callum Cooper, Ed Fiel, Luke Collingwood, Callum Magee, Charlie Cartmell and Kenan Stephenson are no longer involved in playing rugby.
This is where the history making U16's squad of West Hull in 2015 are now at, with some advancing with their careers, some are waiting for the right opportunity to rise and continue their career progression and some have called it a break in rugby to focus on life outside sport.
