Coach talk: West Hull vs Myton Warriors U13 Final
West Hull and Myton warriors are gearing up for an exciting and highly anticipated final which takes place on Saturday 15th July 2017. I caught up with coaches from both teams to hear what they had to say about the final, and most importantly, what they had to say about each other!
I have visited both clubs on numerous occasions and you can watch highlights from their previous fixtures by clicking on the button at the end of this post.
First up, here's what Gareth Fox (Myton Warriors) had to say:
1. How can you sum up this seasons o far?
"This season has been a very good season so far, we have played some good rugby at times and won some close matches"
2. Can you name any players who have been important leading up to the final?
"There's been a few standouts for us, Jordon Ayres and Liam Forsyth in the forwards with Mason Opie Palmer and Kieran Masike in the backs to mention a few but we have a good all round team ethic".
3. How important is the captain?
"The captain Liam Fox is really important he gets all the lads geared up and takes it on himself to lead from the front with his enthusiasm in training and games. He's a great thinker and talker on the pitch. He is well supported by vice captain Finley Rex as well".
4. What qualities does West Hull (the opposition) Possess?
"They have a lot of strengths out wide they are strong and fast and they're led about the park well by the half backs. Also West Hull's defence speaks for it self as they have not conceded many points at all!"
5. What are Myton Warriors key strengths?
" We have a lot of fast players with a good eye for the try line and use the ball really well. But the biggest thing we have is the togetherness the lads will try their best week in week out and put in 100% effort and as a coach, that's all you can ask for. We'll go into this game knowing we are up against it but our lads will go out there and give their all and do the whole of Myton Warriors proud no matter what".
Here's What Glyn Jones (West Hull U13 Coach) had to say...
1. How can you sum up West Hull's season so far?
"We've had an amazing season so far, unbeaten in the cup and league, but the most pleasing aspect is only conceding 72 points in 15 games and every one of our players have scored a try!"
2. Can you think of any players who have been standouts leading up to the final?
"The fact that we have such a good squad, it's hard to pinpoint any individuals as being key to the campaign, although Darnell and Jack were outstanding in the semi, and Chappy picked up Man of the Match!"
3. How important is the Captain?
"Callum Chapman is a very important player, he plays loose man predominantly, and he's our midfield general! Callum gets us round the park and rolls his sleeves up to do the hard yards and big hits when needed"
4. What qualities do Myton Warriors (the opposition) possess?
"I'm not fully clued up on myton having only met them once this year, but they have some very good individuals, Mason, Kieran and Jordan being the most notable, they must be doing very well to be sitting second at the minute"
5. What are West Hull's key strengths?
"West Hull U13's are a great all round team! Each and every one of our players can play at least 3 positions, meaning that if we do lose anybody we always have cover and nobody is unfamiliar in the role that we give them, also I have to say, our defence is probably our strongest point this year!"
