John Mooney: Yorkshire Cup Round Up!
North Hull Knights will have to travel to Halifax to meet Ovenden, 30-0 conquerors of Birkenshaw Blue Dogs, in the Bartletts Barla Yorkshire Cup semi-final next month after their emphatic victory at Sharlston on Saturday. The Knights were in scintillating form for a 38-4 victory but won't be joined in the semis by Three Tuns, who found National Conference side East Leeds too strong on their home pitch going down 38-12. The Leeds outfit will be making the short journey to Castleford to take on fellow NCL side Lock Lane in the other tie.
In the GMB Hull and District League, Brownies Bulldogs made their way to the GMB BOCM Cup Final with a 22-0 victory over Bransholme while in the Tom Beautiman semi-final Lambwath Lions beat Bilton Sullys 40-18 at Tower Grange and will take on either NHK or Three Tuns, who have a mouth-watering semi at Shaw Park on Saturday.
The Lions rampaged into a 28-0 half-time lead over Sullys though to be fair to the latter they spilled numerous chances to get on the scoreboard before being undone by some clinical finishing from the improving Lions. After the break Sullys got their act together and looked the better side, winning the half by 18-12. Lambwath had tries from Neil Tutty, Joe Hill, Lewis Hill, Matty Green and two from Nathan Dunn while Calvin Foster also got on the try-scoring list and kicked four goal. For the hard-working Bilton, Dan Willingham crossed the line twice and Nathan Shepherd also scored with goals from Dan Casey (2) and Elliot Haughey.
